It is hard to believe it has been a year since being a part of the Chaturbate (CB) community. I was always hesitant with Chaturbate because it was different than MyFreeCams (MFC), the other site I was a part of before this.The layout was not what I was used to and the selection of models were small (not the case anymore. More on that later).
So what brought me to Chaturbate in the first place? Well, I guess I was bored one day and decided to see what was going on there. I have been there previous and never though much it. I wound up in this older models room, who no longer appears to be camming. (As an FYI, I will not be using any names of neither models nor members throughout this post.) She was doing a Password show. What that is is where you tip a certain amount of tokens (site currency) and you receive a password for when the show is about to start. the room then locks up and you enter it to join the show. It is similar to a gold show provided on other sites minus the show time limit and hassle. Well needless to say, I didn't receive the password. (Struggled to make an account and buy tokens in time).
But what was I to do now? I had a new account and tokens. I might as well use em right? And that I did. She came back and I got into her show. I decided to explore the site more and look for more models. I was surprised this time around. every time I went on there prior, there weren't that many 'quality' models. It was possible I wasn't visiting at the peak times. The site only had two pages of models to sift through at the time. Anyway this time, I found myself quickly following models to come back to and buying tokens to get into more Password shows. It took only a month after before MFC became a thing of the past. I would still come on from time to time but nowhere as much as I used to. I took a liking to this little site for some reason.
One thing that interested me, as I spent more time on CB was just how different Chaturbate was from MyFreeCams. The main thing was just how customizable it was for the model. That is achieved through apps & bots and moderators. The apps and bots can do a variety of things from keeping of the tokens a model has made for a particular goal and how she achieves goal (tipping in numerical order up to certain number, or reaching a smaller goal multiple times as examples) to not wanting certain people to view the cam stream or even playing games. The password shows I mentioned earlier were run by various apps. Moderators are people who help out the room by reminding folks what the goals or rules are and by silencing people who say things that are inappropriate. They are (usually) close to the model and know what she (or he or they, since Chaturbate allows more than women to broadcast) like and tolerate. Should a model choose to use these resources she can have a fun time, provided there is participation from the members too.
Another big difference is just the pure vibe of the site. It feels more lax than MFC. I guess part of the reason is that there is less competition and no ranking system to speak of. I found myself enjoying myself and participating in chat more and more. There also is a better sense on community here, I find. Even off-line. I also see that the girls are different than what I would find of MFC too possibly because it is muuuch easier to find models on here. MFC has so many girls on and a ranking system that makes it hard to find a girl you would like. Honestly, some girls I found on there were from various videos on tube sites or twitter. Perhaps thats why I got bored that one fateful day. I was tired of seeing the same models on the homepage and in the most popular section (which goes by room count not rank).
This isn't going to be a comparison between the two sites though. I just wanted to paint how I felt coming into it.
At first it was hard for me to open up on CB. I would chat but I was always restrained by what I said. It wasn't until I befriended a model on here that had similar... tastes shall we say, that allowed me to open up and present myself in the way I wanted. It has worked out since. She was also the first girl I modded for. After that, I began making more model friends and even other members too. With the other members it was that we would bump into each other in different rooms and politely say hi, as a way of saying, "Hey I know you." You have girls you like in common, and spend more time in the same rooms together, you get to know them. Same went for the models.
But as with all friendships, thing happen. You just simply fade out or someone stops coming on-line, you a drift or arguments happens. You just simply move on and can make new ones.
It's funny reminiscing. It brings me back. I remember the girls I modded for and think back to how I got there. I remember the conversations and the shows they did. I look back at the friends I've made and lost in the past year, how they seemingly came from nowhere and dissapeared just as quick. I cherish this past year because it also helped me to open up in real life too. And even when the outside world was not so kind, I still had Cb to get lost in, like I used to with books and movies. I would choose it over them at times, just for the interaction.
Chaturbate itself has also changed this past year too. The PW shows have now turned into 'hidden' shows, the number of models have increased dramatically, going from the scant 3 page long model list to much much more, the new color scheme for users, various rule changes involving where you can broadcast from and what you are able to use as a sex toy on cam and frequent moments of site crashing and instability.
I never thought I would be here a year and here I am wanting to be on for a year more. Even with the problems the site has had in the past, I still very much enjoy it.
